Asking kids what their role models would eat can help to influence their choice of healthy foods.
Fast food outlets are a common place people eat and although more and more fast food restaurants are offering healthy choices, people are not choosing them.
To see if a simple question could help parents influence their children’s food choices 22 kids ranging in age from 6 to 12 years of age were presented with photos of admirable and less admirable role models and asked 'Would this person order apple fries (sliced apple) or French fries?'
Sure enough, when asked the question 45% more chose the apple slices over French fries leading the researchers to conclude that “advising a parent to ask their child 'What would Batman (or another admired character or person) eat?' might be an easy step to take in what could be a healthier fast food world.”
